2-5" of snow expected starting tonight. I’m sure they’ll start brining the roads this evening, and salt while they plow. Time for the SS to take its winter nap.

I’m guessing we’ll only get an inch and it will melt immediately, making any salting a waste of money.

Topped it off with no-ethanol premium a few days ago, ran it through the wash this morning. I don’t plan on getting a car cover. I feel like they cause more issues than they solve, especially in unheated storage. I’ll just get it professionally detailed and waxed in the spring.

Winter project: tidy up my shop.

It’s probably just as well, the Bridgestone Potenzas that came on this car do not like temperatures below 50 degrees. On the freeway on-ramp this morning, I lost traction in 2nd gear. Not much fun to be had until the weather warms up in about 5 months.

I’ve got a busy evening planned. Clean the garage, get snows on the BMW and the Fit, put together the tool cart that’s been in a box fort the last year, and get the Rabbit in its spot for hibernation. I do not want 7-10 inches of snow on the Rabbit.

i also want to sit in a souna for liek 5 hours while drinking gallons of water because i’ve got a damn cold that wont go away. but you know working in a non heated garage in 25 degree weather is just as good.

This is a handy reminder of one of the reasons I’m glad I moved away from Madison, even if it is a much cheaper, easier place to live than  DC where I am now.

That looks like an amazing, enormous space.

My truck BARELY fits in the door into where it gets stored for the winter, and I’m not sure I’ll get it there before the snow comes this far east. We’ll see.

45 x 85 “addition” that’s tacked to the front of my main 100 x 85 warehouse.  There’s a 14' wide door between them that’s a bit of a pain to run my forklift through due to it not being leveled, so I’ve just used it as personal storage until I actually need it for work.  It’s a nice space, but its unheated, unlit, and only has a few outlets.  I am going to insulate it, heat it, run a big transformer into it to power a 100amp subpanel, and light it like the 4th of July.

I am eyeballing warmer climates HARD for a retirement shack. Spend the spring, summer, and fall up here, and winter someplace where it’s 60-75 degrees. Just a cottage or something. I love WI, especially up where we live. It’s beautiful with lots of outdoor activities (we’re 20 minutes fr om Door Co, etc) , it’s inexpensive (you can buy a decent 2BR here for $75k), and the people are generally nice. I’ve lived in several 1-2M population metro areas, and I will never go back to that.

I think we’re going to get a lot of snow this winter. Lots of tree nuts on the ground this fall, lots of animals frantically collecting them. The old timers would say that’s a sign of a harder winter. We’ll see.

I was thinking that too. Its been a really wet fall. If that continues into the colder months, it’ll be a shit ton of snow.

WILL IT NEVER STOP RAINING?  Every other day up here.  I put in a new lawn in September and never had to water it.

Thats nice. Similarly I put down a bunch of grass seed to fix some dead spots, and it worked out great.
